Windy as a March Day and Other Weather-Related Sayings

When I was a little girl, my mom always liked to say that I was "windy as a March Day," because I talked a lot. I still tend to talk a lot around people I know well. It has been raining all day today, and I was thinking about how the March winds will dry up the wetness once the rain stops. That was why I remembered what my mom said about me. Rain, rain, go away, come again another day. It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. April showers bring May flowers. I love learning about all the ways other people phrase things. So, what other weather-related sayings can you think of from childhood or adulthood?

Red sky at night, shepherd's delight - meaning a fine day tomorrow. It's not a saying but my Mum would always say it was going to rain if the ants were particularly busy.

My mom taught it to me as Red sky at night, sailors' delight. Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. I had not heard the one about the ants, but if flies are biting it is supposed to rain. Living in farm country, if the cows are all lying down it is going to rain. Makes sense to me because of barometric pressure. I know my legs don't want to work when it is going to rain.

@capirani Some of these things they call old wives tales but years later they find out there is scientific evidence to prove them right.
