How did they MISS this?

How does a Dr miss something like this for 5 yrs & says
NOTHING about it? let this sink in & you tell me how this
can happen, cause according to the dr's that worked on
me said this has been going on for AWHILE,.
"Gallstones is a common cause of Pancreatitis produced
in the gallbladder, gallstones can SLIP OUT of the gallbladder
& block the Bile duck, stopping pancreatic enzymes from
traveling to the small intestines, & forcing them BACK into
the Pancreas. The enzymes then begin to irritate the cells
of the Pancreas, causing inflammation associated with
pancreatitis." Again I ask, HOW could this be missed??
With the weight I was & no systems till the day I barfted
in the driveway & went to the Hosp & they took out GALS
of dead tissue from my pancreas, cause she never did
any test or Xray's or MRI'S OR anything to find out what
was going on, when I asked her how this could happen
all she said was there was NO SYSTEMS, weight gain
should have been a sign I would think, to do some test.
I beg of you to watch your weight & take your health
serious if your gaining more weight than you should be
I'd have your Dr take some mri test or some extra test
of your gallbladder or pancreas to see what's going on.
I didn't think anything about my weight till I landed in
the hosp & was told why I in such bad shape & let me
tell you, you REALLY don't want to end up in the shape
I did without knowing what is going on with your health.
B-ware of your health, don't just go by what your Dr
says, MAKE them do some test that will KEEP you from
going down the hard long road I did by trusting my Dr.
I will be seeing mine in Aug & I will demand some extra
test on my pancreas on is it healing or is there any change
since I've been out of the hosp & on the meds I'm on are
they doing any good are they helping my pancreas or not.
They shouldn't have a problem with doing extra test to see
if everything is doing right being your INS will pay for it &
it's better to be SAFE than SORRY later like I ended up.

Not all, but I believe some doctors are just dialing it in, getting in as many patients throughout the day as they can. Tap your knees, check your nodes, have you cough and wiggle your toes, then bill your insurance and collect your copay and go home in their Porsche with DOC affectionately on their license plates.

@2ndchances24 I can imagine he would. Smoking is frowned upon, of course, especially if you any heart issues. We can either heed their advice or ignore it of course.

it's not funny, I just seen my heart dr today
& he took me off some meds BUT at the
same time, he added what he took away?
Like he took away 2 but added 2 yeah??
told me the labs I did last week look normal
but he really hammered on the smoking.

I am soooooo sorry that you went through all of this!!! I can really count myself lucky as I was going to Stanford University Hospital for other problems when they discovered that my gallbladder was full of stones. They immediately checked me in and removed it. I received a vial FULL of gall stones, which I kept until my house was burned down. I am now very fussy about my health. My next fun thing is to go see my doctor Tuesday and present him with the tube with the parts of my crown in it. The rest of the tooth and crown came out yesterday when I was having a small ice cream bar (it was soft and not hard-yummy chocolate!). It surprised the daylights outta me. I also have to complain about my left ankle and not being to walk on it long and also how much it hurts in bed when I finally lay down.
Don't be afraid or embarrassed to talk to your doctor about your problems. If he shluffs you off raise your voice until he (or she) hears you. They went through medical school not just for the money....somewhere deep down inside they must have wanted to help people!!! I've been a bit hard on the doctors and dentists myself, and will continue to be. I also will let them know in no uncertain terms where I hurt and when I feel "unwell" and something needs to be done about it.
I will say that I am amazed that you didn't wind up sicker than what you did from the doctor's lack of caring.

Thank You, I hope that things get better for you too
& you get it all fixed like it's suppose to be ou health
depends on what we do for it from day 1.
I don't have any systems, not then or when I crashed
almost a yr ago in May, that has flew by I can't believe it.
But I'm still going to ask for some whatever it is they do
to check stuff like this out & not just go on system's that
I don't get, that's what I'm screaming about.

@2ndchances24 I reached the point with my "Pain" doctor (who was a NPA, Dr's assistant that I spoke to once a month on the phone) that I just outright fired them. The lady got pissed and discharged me...to which I told her she was too late that I had already fired her. Anyhow I vented myself and told her how awful she was and hung up. I'm now seeing a doctor that dates back to my generation and he is wonderful!!! Sometimes you have to cave and find a different CARING doctor. Using the excuse that they were worried about their kids etc. doesn't wash when you're a doctor at work caring for sick people.

I'm not sure if it was that or just wasn't thinking
to be honest but if it had of been 1 of her kids
that would have been a whole nother thing.

@RebeccasFarm That's what I'm thinking, who wouldn't right?
but when it comes to patients they care for needs to think that
every 1 of them is a family member, like the nurse's I had in
the hosp, they were so gentle & caring & that's what counts.
