Could've gone worse, but worked out fine.

Good afternoon.
George and I just got back from walgreens. Due to poor advertising, we weren't aware that the pharamcy takes a lunch break between 1:30 and 2. However, wasn't a total loss. that twenty minutes flew by and George found a chair to sit in. I found him a can of soup, and it all worked out. Waiting isn't ideal, but we made the best of it. The driver who picked us up was one who'd picked me up several times. He got to meet my husband. And, George felt good enough to be somewhat chatty. I call that a win-win. It'll be three months before I have to do this again, and by then hopefully George will be driving.

Interesting how life does things sometimes. Meeting the same driver again. Doesn't happen much. I don't think we have ever gotten a driver twice.

Daytona is what I'd call a medium sized city. There aren't that many people who qualify as uber XL. Since Daytona doesn't have the disabled car beta program, I have to get the XL. So I've goten to know a lot of the drivers.

@kaylachan .........I haven't heard of this disabled car beta program. Must just be in the larger cities. We have a free transportation program that my daughter and grandson can use because they are on Medicaid.

@celticeagle We have something similar, but it's up to 3 dollars a ride (last I checked) but George and I are on two different insurances and two different medical systems. So what works for one, doesn't work for the other.
Yes, the bata program is in larger cities where they have wheelchair accessible taxie cabs and other things. Daytona doesn't have that, apart from their fixed route bus service or the previously mentioned door-to-door gold service.

I don't know which Walgreens you went to but the one within walking distance of me on Seabreeze is closing as of April and I am so upset, That just leaves me with the Kangaroo two blocks from us.

I think I know which one you're talking about. Is it the one with roll around hand carts instead of full sized baskets? Because if it is, then they've been having to much trouble with thieft. George and I go to the one on Nova and LPGa, about two miles from the house. I can actually (and have) wheeled myself there. It's the closest one to my house, and easiest to get to. There's where my scripts go.

@RasmaSandra That's a shame that they're gong out of business, but I think I might've been there last year.

@kaylachan Oh course they put that in tiny letters that you can't read! I hate that! I keep forgetting to look for a magnifying glass too when I am out shopping. I need one!

I was a little annoyed because George isn't driving. So, that meant having to order a ride, and pay for it. Later, after digging a little on the Walgreen's app, I found in tiny lawyer print, the half hour block where the pharamcy closes for a 'meal break'.

@Happy2BeMe Yeah. Had he been able to drive, we would've made it well before they clsed for lunch.

I wouldn't say ALL do. I just know that I didn't know it, before we left the house.

It all sounds very encouraging. The fact that George may be driving in 3 months is incredible. I don't know if my husband will be able to drive again. Time will tell. Have a good week.
