So was the Kate Middleton family picture Photoshop or AI?

I do enjoy following news about the British royal family. I always have. I remember watching Prince Andrew marrying Fergie as a young child. I remember the very moment when I heard Diana, Princess of Wales was dead. I spent a year studying abroad in England back in college. I watched the weddings of Prince William and Prince Harry as well of course as the days of events surrounding the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Soooo you can see I keep an eye on royal family news.
The current Princess of Wales, Catherine (Kate), has been out of view since Christmas after some type of non-emergency abdominal surgery back in early January. Kensington Palace said that she would not resume her duties until after Easter. Because people are nuts there have been various conspiracy theories about what is going on behind the scenes.
Yesterday was "Mothering Day" (their version of Mother's Day) so a photo of Kate with her 3 children was released on Instagram with a message wishing those celebrating a happy day. I saw it and then thought nothing further about it until I started seeing posts on Twitter about it. Those who are trained to notice such things pointed out several parts of the picture seemed to be "photoshopped". Charlotte's arm is missing a chunk, Kate's zipper doesn't line up, both a skirt and sweater have blurry areas, and a table and tiles on the floor also don't match areas around them. Other people pointed out the lush green trees in the background when it is early spring in England. Trees don't look like that there just yet.
Kate posted a message today saying that as an amateur photographer she sometimes experiments with photo editing. She apologized for any confusion that it caused. I think that posting the photo was supposed to dial down the conspiracy theories but the fact is that it made the situation 100 times worse.
She admitted to photoshopping the image. I just watched an interview on the news where the reporter stated that the experts she consulted largely believe that it was generated by artificial intelligence (AI). I also just saw a tweet with a plausible suggestion that it was a mashup of both and that Kate's face was photoshopped from when she was on the cover of Vogue. I have to say that they look identical. (link to tweet below) What do you think?

Interesting that they would go to all that trouble. I hope she's OK. Have a good day.

Everyone of us can show photoshopped pictures done by us. But she can´t. AND she is not supposed to apologize either.

They are making too much of this. This is what I got online
In her statement, the 42-year-old princess chalked up the alteration to a photographer’s innocent desire to retouch the image. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” Catherine wrote in a post on social media.

She was also not wearing her wedding ring in the photo which got people talking. It did looked like it was photshopped to cut down on all the talk but like you said it made things worse. I like following the Roal Family too. I met Princess Diana one time when they were visiting this area. She stopped and talked to my Dad for quite some time while she waited for Charles to catch up. Dad was even in one of the books talking to her. I thought that was pretty cool.
