Identical twins share everything - except their version of the truth. Legal investigator Finley O'Sullivan searches for evidence the police overlooked, wading through secrets, likes, and betrayal to find answers. With the unsolved murder of her husband still very much on her mind, Finley must confront her own personal trauma on a daily basis. Lies are part of her livelihood, but they're also the reason she can't get justice for the man she loved. When a man imprisoned for murder recants his confession, claiming he cleaned up the mess for his girlfriend - the victim's own daughter - Finley takes on the case. She discovers the victim had identical twin daughters... and the sisters have very different accounts of the crime. As she dives headlong into the twins' traumatic past, Finley will have to contend with her own demons to get to the truth. ~~~~ I had a hard time getting into this book. The beginning confused me because no names are mentioned. And then when names start getting mentioned there are a lot of them. A lot of characters in this book. It took me a while to get into this story and felt confused some of the time. But then, with mysteries, you aren't supposed to know what's going on, but slowly things became clearer. It was a good read and Debra Webb writes great mysteries. This is only the second book of hers that I have read. I look forward to reading more.

She has a whole series (standalones). I reviewed another one on here I'm sure. She is a good mystery writer.

It can be very confusing if a lot of characters are introduced - or not - too quickly. I have trouble if the names are unusual as might be the case in an Eastern European setting or somesuch.

I think I was trying too hard to figure out how each character was related to everyone else because, a lot of people were actually related in some way. Not necessarily by family but connected. And I was trying too hard because they were coming at me too fast. I need to just read and enjoy it. However, I think some authors are writing books with the expectation that you are going to sit down and read the whole book in one sitting. When I pick the book up, I have forgotten stuff and have to shuffle back to remind myself who people are or what happened last. I don't read in one sitting, especially books that are over 300 pages. Also, I read 3 books in a row where there was a Jake in each book. Now, this book has a Cecilia. The book I am reading now has a Cecily. Not to mention 3 books in a row that have Lie or Liar in the title. I need to pick a different book next time and make sure there are no character names that were in the last couple of books I read. This is what happens when you read alot.

@JudyEv It's still so annoying. I read a book that had every name either beginning with L or had the letter L in the name somewhere. I think that makes it very confusing to keep track of the characters. A book I wrote had the father and one of his sons with names beginning with the same initial. I was confusing myself and changed the son's name.

@patgalca Some names become very popular with authors too depending on when the book was written.
