Velcro dogs

Who else owns a Velcro dog? I have two female German Shepherds, aged 2 and 6 respectively, who follow me absolutely everywhere I go. That includes going to the bathroom – expect no privacy when you have a German Shepherd. That said, being by myself all day, I do welcome the companionship – things can tend to become a bit lonely at times, and especially during those times when my emotional state isn’t what it’s supposed to be, I am really thankful for my two girls keeping me company. They do have their little quirks of course... When I go into the kitchen, they will park in front of the cupboard and look at me with those irresistible “puppy eyes” and put a guilt trip on me if I don’t give them a treat before I exit the room. Also, for some reason – and this is something I’ve wondered about for long, but I’ll get to the question in a bit – at precisely 4:00 p.m., I am MADE to understand that it’s now the end of my working day (I work from home) and it is now THEIR play time. I have tried many ways to make them understand that, listen guys, you aren’t the bosses here, and don’t get to tell me what to do, but to no avail. They insist. Especially the young lady of 2 years old. Oh boy... 4 o’ clock is PLAY TIME! And she will SULK if she doesn’t get her way. Getting back to their time telling abilities – as I said above, they know exactly when 4 o’clock is. They also (on the clock) know exactly when dinner time is. I understand that dogs look at the light, etc. when “telling time”, but you could set a watch by these two! Is there some kind of scientific explanation? The main thing about a German Shepherd is that they are very intelligent indeed, and if you don’t know how to “outsmart” them, they will rule you. As the sign in the entrance hall of our house reads: “This house is run by fearless, intelligent, loyal German Shepherds – the humans just pay the bills.” Can any of you relate?

I grew up with the German Shepherd dogs. We raised them. They are the best.

Velcro dogs? That's very funny. I I don't have any velcro dogs. We used to have a golden Labrador who used to chase my best friend round the kitchen table!
