Let's take a look back on what happened today in history.
1814 In Paris, France the funeral for Dr. Joseph-Ignace Guillotin, inventor of the execution device that holds his name, took place. The first execution using the guillotin was held on April, 25, 1792 when Nicolas Pelletier was put to death for armed robbery.
1834 President Andrew Jackson became the first President to be censured by Congress. During his first term as President he wanted to take apart the Bank of the United States and find a friendlier source of funds for his western expansion plans. He didn't like the bank because of it having too many foreign investors, favored the rich over the poor and resisted lending funds to develop commercial interests in America’s Western territories. The Senate passed legislation to restart the banks charter however President Jackson vetoed it, causing friction between Congress and the President. When he ran for a second term against Whig candidate Henry Clay, Jackson was reelected for a second term. Clay went back to Congress as Senator and fought against President Jackson bringing the censor against him.
1915 The first US causality of WW1 happened on this day. A German U 28 submarine torpedoed a cargo passenger ship, the Falaba, killing 31 year Leon Thrasher along with 104 others of 242 on board.
1939 The 3 year Spanish Civil War officially ended. In 1931 Spanish King Alfonso XII consented to have elections to decide the government of Spain, and voters overwhelmingly chose to end the monarchy in favor of a liberal republic. The church, and a large military clique increasingly employed violence in their opposition to the Second Republic, and in July 1936 General Francisco Franco led a right-wing army revolt in Morocco, which prompted the division of Spain into two key camps: the Nationalists and the Republicans.

Sometimes I wonder if dying by the guillotine might be the way to go. It's better than being shot by a firing squad! Dark thoughts! lololol Have a good weekend.

Jackson was a brutal President. He doesn't deserve his place on the 20.
