Ghost Ships

I think that ghost ships are so eery and the mysteries behind them so weird. A luxury yacht or cargo ship left adrift in the sea with no probable cause. No family or crew left on the ship, no storm nearby was reported, no bodies were found, no signs of a struggle and food still stored, and no problems with the running of the ship. What could have possibly happened? There are many stories of these occurrences. Like one on December 5, 1872. A cargo ship left for Genoa from New York on November 7th. It was found abandoned on December 5th. Then there is the Carroll A. Deering, a cargo ship manned by 10 men and headed to Rio de Janeiro from Virginia. There have also been reports of several family outings on luxury yachts where this has happened. The most recent was the Yong Yu Sing No.18 in January 2021. A fishing boat was found floating in the ocean. It was a Taiwanese fishing ship missing its crew found adrift. As of 2020, the International Maritime Organization listed 438 ships worldwide found abandoned since 2004. This number could be higher since not all cases are reported. I have thought of UFOs, weird storms that might have come up unexpectedly, or perhaps, and this seems more logical, that some pirates/robbers took over the ships, took anything of value, and killed all the passengers or trafficked them. What are your thoughts, and theories?

As much as I like the draw of supernatural theory, my guess is that they were the latter as you say.

I think most of the disappearances are related to piracy, but some could be storm related as well.

@snowy22315 .......Maritime and the coast guard would surely pick up on any storms or activity in the area.

I think there would have been evidence of pirating if that were the case. It seems strange that so many ships have been found abandoned with no sign of mischief and everything still stored and stowed where it belonged.

I don't know. For the entire crew to disappear.. it leads to a lot of questions.
