Chris Bloch who is a fire captain with the Contra Costa Fire in Walnut Creek California was traveling with his daughters as well as a close of the Bloch family were traveling by auto to baseball practice between Lake Tahoe Airport and Sawmill Creek on Sunday afternoon March 11 when his daughters told their dad that she saw a couple fall into an icy pond.
Chris did take the advice of his daughter Coral and take her advice to take action and make an effort to jump into the pond and with the help of his daughters Coral and Sequoia Dawn-Bloch, Chris was able to call 911, use a discarded sled to reach the couple and stretch out like a cat to save the man and woman who fell into the icy pond.
Chris two daughters were able to give their own clothing to the couple who had wet clothes on them.
The first responders then took the couple to a local hospital where they were being treated for hypothermia.
The fire department personnel retrieved their belongings and took their dogs to the local animal shelter.
Chris and his family admit that they were in the right place at the right time on that day.
