Rice coffee + planner notes

I've been so glued to my phone and tablet lately that I'd forgotten to take some notes in my planner. So, I made a cup of rice coffee and set aside some time this morning to jot down some thoughts and plans - at least for the month of April. It's going to be a busy month for me and my family. We are leaving our provincial home of 20+ years. Lots of memories in that house but we need to move on and plan ahead for the future of our children. Since we've moved to the city last year, we have seen more opportunities and crafted more concrete plans for our girls' schooling and for our own retirement. Undoubtedly, there's more to do and see in the city for now. We are also moving to a bigger condo unit in two weeks. It's a massive haul 'cause we'll be bringing stuff from the big house and from the smaller unit that we've been renting. We're still in the process of decluttering the big house and we've been really slow 'cause we're there only on weekends and it's just me and the husband who are doing most of the work. Good thing the house isn't sold yet. We can still go back every now and then to clear the house. And to reminisce big time Anyways, I look forward to a lot of opportunities once we've moved to the new unit and are now able to spend weekends in the city. I'm excited to be seeing old friends and meeting new people and joining workshops and projects. Did you ever feel excited and sentimental about leaving a place and moving to a new one?

Yes, the first time I moved apartments. When we had time to really move without breaking our necks. It was not easy, mind you.

It's definitely a lot of work. We're hiring movers toward the last phase of our moving out. I've filled out so many boxes and trash bags already!! I never thought it would be like this. I should consider downsizing when we move to a new apartment.

I was sad when we left the apartment where we lived during 31 years to move here. This is our home and I love it, but I was attached to that apartment.

Oh, you lived in that house for 31 years? A long time. You must have loved that place very much. I feel like I will stay in this house until I grow old without having to move.

@tkonlinevn - It was not a big apartment, but we loved it, we rented it was not ours.

I know what you mean about attachment. I will miss our backyard with a nice view. My kids are sentimental too because they grew up in that house and had a big room to themselves. The new apartment that we're renting has two bedrooms but a lot smaller than the house that we have in the province.

I moved 2 times and I really missed my old place. Really don't want to go. But after that you will get used to it. First time I heard about rice coffee. What is that?

Thanks for the encouragement. I am already liking this new city that we live in. Rice coffee is just roasted rice grains. I add sugar and creamer to make it into coffee. It's one of the coffee substitutes that I like to drink. But I think I prefer the taste of barley coffee -- it's much closer to coffee in taste and aroma.

I will miss this house if we ever have to move from here. We've been here 20 years; and I can't imagine living anywhere else.

It's nice to get settled and comfy in a place that you really like. I don't know yet where the tides will take us. But for now, we will be here in the city for the husband's work and the girls's schooling.

Rice coffee sounds interesting..I have never tried one. I have moved to lots of places, in different countries and different houses in the first fourteen years of my marriage. All because of my husband's job. From last ten years, I am in my current home and I just love it. I have an emotional attachment to this place and I call it as my permanent home

I admire you! How many houses have you set up in 14 years? But as what I always tell my husband, he is my home. Anywhere with him is home. I'm glad you've found a permanent home. If I had a choice, I'd like to live in a country house again with a nice front yard and big backyard. I love gardening.

@almostoveryou 4 houses in the US, one in Capetown, one in UK and a hotel accomodation for one month in Japan. Then we moved to India. We changed two houses here. This is the third house that we own. We put the first two on rent after moving to this own.

@arunima25 Whoa!! You've been around and for sure, you'd been busy! I've always been curious about Capetown. How did you find the place? Did you like it? Good to know you've got two other houses being let out. It's a stable passive income.
