"Where is the box?"

The roommate poked her nose in my room and asked: "Have you seen that box I had on the table?" "Yes," I told her, "you picked it up when I got home." "No I didn't." "Yes you did." "No, I picked up those other two boxes and there was a box on top of it, so I didn't pick it up." "Yes you did. I saw you just as I got home." "No I didn't." She finally gave up, when back into the hall. "You are right! I did pick it up! It is right here." "Nener nener nener," I told her. We had a laugh.

It just a really funny thing. I had seen her pick it up, but I'm thinking she does things out of 'habit' and doesn't really pay attention when she does them.

@LadyDuck I hear that. I would think I'd be the one who might have memory loss, I'm 19 years older than the roommate.

@ElicBxn My husband's problem is more serious. He is losing his short term memory. He forgets almost immediately what he has done.. The problem is that he is so stubborn not to listen to me when I tell him what he did.

Yes, she's always been a bit scatter brained, but in the last few months she's gotten worse.

@BarBaraPrz I don't think she'd get hurt, but saying about the box and the cat treats, I think she does need some supervision.

Well, it was her box. She had bought something and wanted to compare ingredients. I just remembered her picking it up since it was almost the first thing she did when I got home.

It was an empty box she had flattened about a week ago. She's had a lot on her mind between her mother passing the first of December, her father and step-mother both have failing health, and she lost her job because of a fall in December of 2022. She had put the cat treat container on a high shelf and didn't remember doing it earlier this year. Had to have been her - I can't reach the shelf. But a drink sounds good... however, I had just taken my pain meds and those shouldn't be mixed.

@jefferson126 no, she is still unemployed, but now her family are trying to make sure her father and step-mother understand why they have taken the car keys away... it sounds like the step might have a better idea than her father...

@ElicBxn ,Sorry for loss of your roommate, sounds she suffered some misfortune these years. She was not in the mood i guess, perhaps her minds was in confusion which make people forgetful.I suggest she sort things into well orders, make minds clear instead of mixed.did she have a new job now?
