Remember a couple of months ago, the doctor's office ordered me this cologuard test that is supposed to indicate if you need a colonscopy. I did not want to take it, because I believe I am in good shape, plus that test had a 14 percent false positive rate. I sent it back. Now, the doctor's office has hand addressed an envelope to me saying they have ordered me this test... I wonder if it will actually be shipped? It ended up across the street last time. If it shows up, I may take it and get the doc's office off my back.

14% false positive is quite high for such an invasive procedure, I'd be scared too.

This particular test isn't invasive. The colonscopy itself is what is invasive. If the test comes back good I shouldn't need to take one.

@snowy22315 Yes, I meant high chances of getting a colonscopy when you don't need one. How does the cologuard work? I guess it has to do with your poop but that's vague.

@sabtraversa Yes, I think you send a small sample. Gross, but probably effective. I had a friend die of colon cancer ( at least that is what I think she had) not too long ago.

They are certainly being persistent. Do they/you have any grounds for keeping on about it?

@snowy22315 The one thing wrong with our health system if that many of these procedures don't cost us but the doctors can claim from Medicare which they do with gay abandon. Because it's not costing the individual the doctors think it's okay to arrange test after test.

@JudyEv The thing is they don't perform the tests I should really have, but that is a matter for another day. Maybe there is a greater reimbursement for this other one

Perhaps you should take it and just get it over with otherwise you could wind up with so many tests you won't know what to do with them.

Yeah, if it shows up here I just might. At least it will get them off my back.

@snowy22315 I hope it gets lost since you do not want to do it anyway.

I've already had one Cologuard. It sure beats getting a colonoscopy. The prep always makes me sick. Good luck and have a good day.

I told the people last time..the shipper I didn't want. They sent it across the street. I will accept it if they send it though.

doctors should trust us more and our bodies. if you feel okay and don't want to go, they should appreciate it. you said the test came across the street?
