Why do flight attendants dim lights during take-off and landing?

April 19, 2024 5:53am CST
I am kind of curious as to why flight attendants will always dim the lights during air plane take-off and during landing. Could it be for security reasons, power conservation, flight control, or power consumption? What exactly is the reason for such??

The "dimming of cabin lights" only happens when it is dusk, dawn or dark outside the aircraft as a safety measure. They DO NOT during daylight. Believe that I know, I cannot count how many times I have been on an airplane.

@ogbenishyna As I said it is a safety measure. It is done to ensure that your eyes are adjusted to the gloom enough to see the floor lights leading you to safety along the aisle in the event of a crash or emergency evacuation. If the cabin lights were on, but then went out, your eyes would need a while to adjust to the lower light
