Power Attacks in the News Again

I wrote a post about a recent power station attack back in early 2023. I haven't seen anything in the media again until just the other day. It says a former CIA official is saying that there could be a strike coming to America's power grid and if so 9 out of 10 people could be affected. Also, a solar generator would be a great thing to have on hand because it would supply continuous power. Vice News Tonight back in March 2023 was very informative about hate groups who are trying to bring down our most important resources such as our power, water, and communications. That someone has used metal chains, hand tools, and firearms and caused blackouts all over the U.S. and the Bannock Power Administration has seen 20 attacks just since late November 2023. The Bannock Power supplies power to Oregon and Washington. White Nationalists have actually published to the internet plans to take down our power grids. The US has about 11,500 power plants across the U.S. and there are 55,000 substations and 700,000 miles of high-voltage power lines. These are divided into 3 power grids and partly responsibility for these is with the Department of Energy. There are also privately owned sections as well. Acts of sabotage have doubled in the last decade with limited arrests or known suspects. When these things happen it means street lights don't work, public safety is compromised and people who need medical devices powered by electricity can't use them. Power outages can last from just a few hours to days. What about having a security person at each power station to safeguard against such attacks?? This becomes a manpower issue and costs can quickly rise to a point it can price people out of being able to turn their lights on. Coordinated attacks of this nature could cause a coast-to-coast blackout. All it would take is to knock out just 9 of the 55,000 sub-stations. It has been the goal of violent extremists to knock out the power, water, and telecommunications for years. These extremists have even published online a how-to guide on how to cause chaos and collapse the government. With the rest of what is going on in this country, what happened on January 6th, 2021 and, the groups that were in on it, and the craziness that has seemed to become the norm in recent months it scares me to death to think of what could be ahead. Please do post if you personally see anything in the news about these kinds of attacks in your areas. My fear is that if Trump is imprisoned or doesn't get the election some of the crazies out there that he has brainwashed could do something like this. What are your thoughts on this issue?

I hope we don't have a power outage problem. It's good to be prepared if it does.

We have a standby generator that will go on automatically when the power goes out; however, it is run by natural gas. I don't know what the extent of the power outages would be and to what utilities.

It's hard to say until it happens. Smart to have a back up. Wish we did here.
