Do you remember the Columbia Record Club?

I think almost everybody of a certain age was a member there at least once. I still have CDS that I got through it. I played one double box set of the Police last week, that I didn't even know I had, obviously came from there. Back when 8 tracks were a thing I got several from there too. I also belonged to the Double Day book club, and the Oprah book club. Didn't Columbia have a book division too at one time? I think I may have gotten books from there at one time..not sure. I wonder if Columbia is still in business?

@LindaOHio I think I did too, but I simply can not remember any books specifically bought there. However, I do know which ones I bought with the Oprah Book Club as that was within the last 15-20 years.

Blast from the past!! I do remember Columbia record club and Doubleday Book Club. I remember waiting anxiously every month for the catalog to come so I could pick some music and of course I bought more books than music.

I bought quite a bit of both as I recall. Like I said...I didn't even know I had that Police CD..it isn't something I would have normally bought so it had to have been part of a bulk purchase on Columbia.

@snowy22315 I'm familiar with the Police as they were popular when my kids would be blasting their music

@Marilynda1225 Sting just performed with Billy Joel at Madison Square Gardens for that 100th special. I was in heaven. I recorded his portion. He looks great for a Septagenarian!

I was never a member, but I wanted to be! That’s such a blast from the past reference.

Yes, they have been in my mind since I discovered that CD set that looks like it was never played.

Most of the record albums and CD's I have were purchased through the Columbia Record Club. I have around 500 vinyl albums and several CD's. Most of the vinyl albums were my mothers.

I remember all those. I didn't belong to any of them. I didn't like the idea of the company automatically sending out the next best every month.
