I can understand him. They are noisy and gross. They are Biblical pests.

@marguicha The noise has finally quietened down some here. It's been pretty loud for at least the last 2 weeks.

@Scarred4Lyfe Maybe the smoke from the wildfires burning here will float down and drive the pesky things away.

@Scarred4Lyfe One of my cats was enjoying one the other day and another one was guarding a hole waiting for something to come out. I assumed she was waiting on a cicada to emerge, however that hole was large enough for a snake. She's still here so, must have been cicada!

None of my other trees have quite that many on them, but none of them have low branches like that old mulberry. I've also noticed they seem to like my rose-of-sharon quite a bit.

@kareng Could always be a crawdad hole. I've watched Scar watching them and reach a paw in almost up to his 'shoulder' at whatever is down there.

At least it isn't the big green ones, they are about twice the size.

@Scarred4Lyfe This is interesting. I have seen the dragonflies doing this, they are not pretty before they shed their shells.

@LadyDuck This is from today - here is how they look when they first leave their shell.

Actually they only climb the tree to shed their shells and morph into the adult stage.

It's up to you to protect your hoomin's bald head.

I think he just needs to call that Bizarre Foods guy and tell him lunch is served.

Oh my! I don't suppose you would want to have a bowl of crunchy monsters every day, Perhaps the end of the mulberry tree has come,

I've heard that squished aphids are a new cure, for male baldness! Just mix it with a fair amount of tequila, 100% lemon juice and a little salt. It's also great to induce a coma.

Oh no, those crunchy monsters are really causing trouble! Tell your hoomin to stay safe and maybe use a good bug spray instead of a flame-thrower.
Stay vigilant, guardian Scar!

Cicadas are going to be in part of this state, but I think we may miss them here. At least I hope so. This place is buggy enough. I am sure Nico would be highly impressed with them though. If one got in the house he would probably think it was the thrill of a lifetime. It would even be better than moth chasing!
