29 were laid off

May 20, 2024 12:20pm CST
Hey Hope everyone is doing well. Friday we got an email that company is observing pressure on their operational margins. And on Monday, 29 of my colleagues( Not sure what where their location of operation.) Got laid off. I got chance to speak with the HR team ( Human Resources) they said they have given them 1 months time to search. Until then they will receive the salary. After 30 days they have to leave. I heard they are doing it in batches. Now I wonder what I will do when such situation happens with me. I usually get panicked. Low on sugar and fall unconscious I am lucky that I am a male else people would have thought that I am pregnant typical Indian mentality when a newly married girl falls unconscious or start vomiting. Anyway ... How you will manage the case when you will be told you will be no longer part of the organization and you have only 30 days?

Unless you work for yourself, job security isn't a guarentee. Even when I worked for Pizza hut, I was always looking for odd things I could do online in my spare time.

@kaylachan finding a gig or job online is tough for non English speaking applicants.

Life is unexpected. And with recent market and economic scenario we keep hearing stories of such mass layoffs. Not sure how should one react to that, but definitely it's not pleasant to anyone. I hope and pray that each one finds some good job soon.

Tomorrow I will try to see if none of my team members got any of such emails. I have already asked my manager to check for my team mates. I will be praying fof them and also requesting god no more lay offs.

I have worked in multinationals, and I have seen many of the colleagues being asked to leave. That did not go down well with me...not at all. It does not foster friendship. Collaboration. It creates competition. While small dosage is good, the larger set always brings problems.

I have only been fired/laid off from 3 jobs in my liftetime..the rest of them I QUIT. But I have never been given more than a week, and one let me go 1 week before Thanksgiving. Worked for Juevinile Delinquency in Florida,...Long story, but mostly because I knew things. LOL they told me Monday morning and my last day was Friday. I had 3 days of vacation coming..I went and told the person I needed to tell about my vacation days, and let them know I would be off Wed, Thur, and Friday. They tried to tell me no, but I kept on till they let me..So my last day was Tues. LOL Whenver I was in between jobs, I worked at a Temp Service.. Even now that I am retired, I do surveys, and get paid...not a lot, but it helps. Not sure what you do for a living, but I am sure you will be able to find something to do. There are plenty of jobs out here.

My working days are behind me, now I am my grandchildrens sitter. I don't know how I will handle it when my grandchildren don't need a sitter any longer. My days will be sad as I will be missing their beautiful little selves. I already have a granddaughter who is 16. My goodness how the time flies.

They should do some postings about the cause behind the laying off of employees.
