Tom took my Mini-Van to get his radiator..he hates to drive the van...his buddies always make fun of him. LOL He also bought oil for an oil change. Came back home and when he took the Old radiator out, he found it was the original radiator..his truck is 31 years old. 1993 Chevy Silverado. It was definitely stopped up..he put the hose to it, and NO Water went through. So he put the New Radiator in, and changed his oil. Came in and cooled down, then went for a ride. Came home and said his truck was Happier than he was. Said it ran like a brand new truck. I thanked God for answering prayers. Was worried we were going to be down to one vehicle. That could be a problem with all my appts. and him working. Anyway, I got to relax today, and take it easy...no shopping today! Got tonight's Lottery tickets yesterday..I was worried I might not be able to get there today. Having BLT's tonight...I cut the tomato and got the lettuce ready...Tom did the Bacon. Hope everyone had a Good Day today as well!

That's a blessing to know it was a easy fix to a 31 yr old vehicle & being as clogged as it was, does he do a reg maintenance every so many miles to KEEP it running good? that would be a big help.

@Ghostlady Well at lest you have a novice husband that knows how to work on autos, I've seen people that have NO clue how to work on them & just run them in the ground. My husband knows how to maintain our 1985 dodge van that we bought in the late 80's & it runs like a top still today.

@2ndchances24 I have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. Has a stuck Lifter, needs CV axles, and no AC! But it still runs. Been having a stuck Lifter for the past 6 years. It has so much electrical crap on it, that Tom doesn't want to work on it. He is not good with electrical stuff. LOL So I have been Half Heartedly looking for a used vehicle. Just don't need something with heated seats, drives itself, talks to me...would like electric windows and seats, but don't need no SCREEN to grab my attention and run into someone. What are car manufacturers Thinking? Phones are bad enough! So, until I find what I want, I just hope my van keeps on going.

He does oil changes, checks fluids, but nothing else. He has had this truck since 2014. Only one owner, met the guy's son who was selling it. When his dad bought it new, it was top of the line back in 1993. The son was a policman in Lynn Haven, so we felt like it would be a good vehicle. Had a problem though right after he bought it..apparently the son doesn't know much about vehicles. He had taken it to a local mechanic for something...Tom found out who it was, and went to the mechanic to see what exactly he did. Tom used to work on cars in between jobs. He used to do most of the work on my cars/vans. When he came out from talking to the mechanic..he was shaking his head. First thing he said when he got in the truck...that dude needs to go back to school. In the Air Force he painted planes, but he also learned how to work on aircraft engines, and before I met him a friend of his came all the way down here to talk Tom into going to Georgia and working on Air craft engines. He made it a couple of months, but his nerves couldn't handle it...he had nightmares that he forgot to tighten a screw or left one out. Anyway...even now when he works on ANYTHING, he lays out each screw, nail, ect. in order I help him sometimes. My first husband was a mechanic, tow truck driver. Helped him work on cars...learned a lot from him and Tom. Enough that when I take it to Firestone or someplace to get something minor done and they try to sell me Blinker Fluid...I just laugh at them and ask for my bill.

Tom and I understand each other and just about can read each other's mind. Truthfully. When I drove a taxi, I would be thinking of something for supper, and when I asked Tom what he wanted he would say exactly what I had been thinking all during the day. He is my Best Friend and Fishing Partner for Life.

@Ghostlady I hope my partner and I could get to a point that we think and spend time together just like the both of you. Right now, we are good but we are not as good as the both of you are paired.

Sounds like a good day. I'm glad you got the truck fixed. And for 31 years that's great.

That would have been good news indeed that a new radiator fixed the truck's problems. It's a wonder the old one lasted this long I guess.

Yes Ma'am..He has had trouble before with it slightly overheating, and he changed the thermostat, and it seemed to fix it, but this time he knew something else was wrong when it was running hot and still had a full radiator.
