What's on the boob tube? May 24th, 2024: Robots

Hey y'all. Sorry, today has been busy with a capital B. We had tiny she child last night, and this morning was she child's awards assembly at school. So when we took she child to school, we took tiny she child to McDonald's for pancakes. I had a gift card for $25. She got pancakes, I got a steak egg and cheese bagel and Chris got his usual griddlecakes sammich meal. Anyhow, none of that has anything to do with what we are watching, except for the fact that I actually got both girls down before 10pm. And that's the first time that's happened. SOOOO. We decided to watch Robots on Hulu. We finished Upload last night and needed something to watch. This is similar theme so it was a good choice. It's set in the future where people have doubles that are Robots, and these two people have Robots that stand in for them and they got on a date. Or rather they send their robot doubles to go stand in for themselves on the date. So, that's where we are on this movie. Here's the preview so you can check it out.

Haven't heard of that show before, but we don't use Hulu either. Glad that you found something that you enjoyed.

It's a movie, and Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Paramount, Peacock and Tubi are all we use. Way cheaper than cable or Dish.

@thislittlepennyearns We mostly use SlingTV (only paid subscription we use), Tubi, Roku, Pluto, Peacock. And a bunch of other apps we use from time to time. I think we have 55 apps total.

@Dena91 What exactly is SlingTV, like is it Cable or.....lol We have three months free of Amazon Prime, and Hulu gets paid through a survey I do every month that the money goes directly from those surveys to pay for Hulu.

Sounds an interesting concept. It must hard for film makers to come up with something a bit different.

If you think about it with the way AI and technology is progressing something like this probably isn't that far-fetched or Out Of Reach as it used to be

@thislittlepennyearns I've been using ChatGPT for some background info occasionally and been quite impressed but then yesterday it told me Cocklebiddy was in South Australia which it very definitely is not. It was good reminder to always check AI.

@JudyEv I have never used ChatGPT and haven't really read up on it much. What is the point of it? I've done some of the AI art things, where you tell it what you want and it makes the picture for you.

It is pretty good. But we aren't very far into it. It has Shailene Woodley who was in Divergent and Secret Life of An American Teenager

Sounds like a packed day! It's always nice to have a satisfying breakfast to start the day, especially when it involves pancakes. And it's great that you managed to get both girls settled early for once. "Robots" sounds like an interesting choice for a movie night, with its futuristic premise. It must be fun exploring different shows and movies together as a family. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

Robots may be actually showing what the future civilization would actually look like. Some countries are already manufacturing human robots. I have feeling many people would end up preferring being with robots than humans. My upside look to that would be a decrease in human population.

Everybody talks about it like it's in the future. This movie was set in 2035. That's 11 years away. With self driving cars, automated fast food restaurants and AI everywhere- so I see us being closer to the movie in the next five years, rather than 9. I don't like people, I'm not going to like humanoid robots any better.

@thislittlepennyearns We're definitely going to that direction even before reaching 2035. People are so fast in developing technology.
