5/27/24 - Update on My Husband

Nothing to report other than he is in good spirits. Today is Memorial Day. I am hoping that they have physical therapy today because otherwise hubby will have been in bed for 3 days. This puts him behind.
I will check with PT tomorrow and see what their plan is.

@LadyDuck There was no therapy on Monday because of the holiday; so he spent 3 days in bed.

I read down below he stays in bed all day if their is no PT. I don't see why someone can't help him into a chair. I guess whatever is the easiest for them to do is what they do. I talso seems like now he should be at the point where he could get up by himself.

I think he should be able to get up too. That's why I'm calling the head of PT today.

Hope he has PT today. 3 days without PT was quite boring and it was not good for him.

Glad to hear your husband is in good spirits! I haven't been here lately, but I just read through what all had been going on for about a month. Our healthcare system just makes me want to scream . . . people need to heal and they just make things so annoyingly difficult. Always thinking of you both . . . I hope PT works out well for your husband this week.

@LindaOHio One of my dad's doctors outside the rehab facility told me this about PT - but you probably already know this. She said PT was always minimal in these places, and that PT wouldn't be covered by insurance once he got home. She said there were tons of PT videos online, even stuff that could be done in bed . . . that it was important to keep on moving and building up that strength beyond what PT does in these sessions. I know the motivation to do it on your own is a whole 'nother thing though. Hope it all works out

@much2say Insurance will pay for 2 weeks of in-home therapy. Then he must go out to a facility and pay $40 per session.

Thank you so much. He lay in bed for 3 days which makes me crazy. That will put him behind.

Yes. If he had PT on the weekends he probably would be home by now.

Hopefully he has PT today, otherwise he will be 3 days without and then only 4 days with it this week.
Based on the time of the year, people will be coming and going off from vacation, they should have a policy so that the programs continue in their absence.

I hope they do not close down the department for the holiday and he will get physical therapy or exercises he can do on his own till they can provide for him.

It sounds like they do not care and will not help him get better. That is a shame. Can he come home and just do it on an outpatient basis and be at home with you?
