It's the first time I've heard of it. I never encountered the Battered Child Syndrome even during my law school years. Maybe this is something that should be taken accounted for in the Philippines someday. Battered Child Syndrome is being referred to a collection of repeated injuries sustained by a child from the mistreatment or beatings given by the child's parents, guardian or foster parents. A child suffering from that syndrome can potentially change a child's behavior for the worst. It can be increase in aggression, anger, hostility, hyperactivity, or changes in social relations or school performance. I'm not certainly sure but I feel like our country needs to study this.

It would be great if the public were to be informed of stuff like these. The workd may be kinder that way, or so I wonder.

It is a crime here to beat a child, even the parents cannot.

It's also not okay here, but there are disciplinary actions imposed such as facing the wall, cleaning, community service, slight pinch on the ear, slight shaving mark for improper hair trim (done to boys only) and alike have been justified in order for some lessons to be instilled onto them.

@HaruLoid Disciplinary actions are a thing of the past, should a teacher do something like that she/he loses his job immediately and without salary. When I was a child in school in Italy (60 years ago) those practice were already banned.

@LadyDuck The disciplinary actions that were banned in our country were capital punishments, spanking, beating, mistreatment, maltreatment and alike. Anything that can brutally harm a child is illegal.

It's interesting how we can still come across new things, even after all these years, right? Battered Child Syndrome does sound like something that warrants attention and study, especially in our country.

Very interesting, indeed. However, these new things that we learn and discover just shows how much our country needs to catch up in order for our country to be able to enforce things like them.
