In an electric atmosphere in a Cricket stadium in Dallas(probably first Cricket International in Dallas), Aaron Jones' 40 ball 94 led US to a win over neighbors Canada ! Canada has had a more regular history of playing in International tournaments yet US team prevailed. Aaron Jones was earlier neglected for key domestic tournament but is back with a bang. Source :

I rarely see Canada and the USA mentioned in cricket matches.

@JudyEv Canada has been into cricket much longer - since 70s and US joined later - late 90s I suppose. However, they have not made much headway or beaten top teams, something which Netherlands, Ireland and Kenya could do sometimes. In fact, Ireland and Netherlands can be very handful on their day. Yet with cricket gradually picking up in US, the future can be different. And what if some day Elon Musk, Walmart or Amazon start taking more interest in cricket, it could even make a bigger difference!

@judyev Ya may be they are active in the domestic circle, but the aren't active on the global stage. And that's exactly what the ICC wants. They want to bring the non cricket playing nations also under the umbrella so that the game of cricket spreads even more and really become a global game in the true sense. Also, it would be great to see cricket being introduced in the Olympics. If you compare football and cricket, there are more than 30 teams in a FIFA World Cup but if you check out the teams in an ODI World Cup you will see hardly 10 to 12. On a world stage 10, 12, 15 is not a big number.

@abhi_bangal The football codes are all pushing for their games to become international too. It's all about the money they can generate.

@arunima25 Canadian cricket team goes back to 70s. US team came into being in 2000s. I think US team played in an ODI World Cup as well. And surprise: US beat Pakistan in Super Overs !

@arunima25 Yes one player is Saurabh Netravalkar. He played for Under 19 in India, along with the likes of K.L.Rahul. Then he went to US for higher studies after 2015. Later he joined Oracle Corp and now is a left arm seamer in US team. There are more folks of Asian origin and a former Kiwi player - Corey Anderson.

Yeah, it's great to see new teams like the US make some meaningful contribution in a global event like the World Cup, especially in cricket. This World Cup is an opportunity to promote cricket in the US and I think the host country is standing up to its expectations. Another thing I would like to mention here is that the US earlier beat with a veteran team like Pakistan. And that itself started rickety start for the Asian team. And Pakistan's loss to India in a thrilling match just 2 days back added to their worries even more.

@thedevilinme Aaron Jones could have been part of West Indies. I think a few White Americans could be part of American Team 15 members if not the playing XI. And then we have the allrounder former NZ player Corey Anderson who migrated to US and now plays for them. Just checked: two players are basically from South Africa. Steven Taylor is the homegrown American player: Quoting from above : Born and raised in south Florida to Jamaican immigrants, he began playing adult league cricket when he was 9. Taylor made his first USA senior tour a few days after turning 15, in November 2008. Eventually, he made his debut at 16 against Jamaica in May 2010, by which time he was hovering at over six feet tall. In 2011, he set a USA U-19 record with 140 off 120 balls against Papua New Guinea at the U-19 World Cup Qualifier in Ireland. ...... " "
