Wow. Talk about fast?? This morning I called the guy who owns the house where the tree that fell sits. I figured he’d be out this weekend to check things out. NO. He was here this afternoon. While battling an emergency at his “real” job” he was in my back yard, taking photos of everything. He told me that he’d have the fallen tree out my yard by Sunday. I vehemently protested, telling him it was going to be way too hot to deal with something like that. Since it’s in the back of the back yard (we used to call that the “back 40,” because it was fenced off for the fur babies in case the gate had to be opened), and it’s not “blocking” anything, there’s no rush to get it out of the way. What’s the photo got to do with it? That’s Silver, one of the neighborhood toms. He loves to sit in my back yard, near the fence, by the bird feed shelves. When I saw the shelves destroyed I was worried that a cat might have been back there, but he showed up for food, water, and to protest the tree being on his sleeping area. I’ve also seen a couple of squirrels who aren’t any too happy about this, either, but hey, that’s life. They’ll have to run a little further to get their food until the yard is cleaned.

That's good of the guy to be onto the problem so quickly. Silver looks as if he has resigned himself to the situation.

I was thinking Silver wants to kill me for messing up his yard and having the nerve to give him DRY food today.

@JudyEv — he didn’t eat but two bites of the wet food, and I can’t afford to throw 98% of a can of cat food away. His fault, although I’m sure he doesn’t see it that way.

It's nice to know he's going to get the tree out of the yard heck if it was any 1 else they'd leave it for you to get rid of.

The first tree that fell was sort of left to the neighbors and me to clean up, but to be fair it was blocking the driveway. A different guy owned the house then.

@FourWalls then that makes it even BETTER cause you have some 1 with a heart that cares about his neighbors, which is really nice to have.

Silver is gorgeous!! Sorry about the fallen tree in your backyard. We have several BIG limbs that have fallen out of the old pecan trees to take care of when the weather clears up.

@FourWalls He reminds me of a cat we had years ago that was dumped at my brother in laws store years ago. My SIL took care of it all day and my hubby ended up bringing her home for the kids. We named her Meow because she meowed all day and they were already calling her that, so it stuck! Beautiful gray color.

Believe it or not, that IS only a “branch.” About 14” round, but a PART of the tree, not the tree itself. Isn’t Silver sweet? He almost made me late for my doctor appointment!

This man sounds like my father anything you mention he’s right out there working on it before you can blink. I texted my mom today and asked if they were home and could watch my little one for an hour while I took my son to an emergency appointment that I would explain about later. I set the phone down and picked up my food and my door opened. Poor guy must have ran. Luckily for me he lives across the street.

I did expect him to respond, but definitely not that quickly.

He said he’s not waiting for insurance, which is good because he’d be waiting for three years.

Best of luck with getting that tree cleared away, Silver look sort of like Freddie and Morticia's mom Silky. That is their mom,

That's a good guy. It is way too hot to be doing any physical labor outside. Maybe you can bring him some lemonade. Silver looks pretty comfortable.

I gave him some Gatorade while he was outside taking pictures of everything. I invited him in to get out of the heat but he was dealing with a work emergency and had to leave lickity split.
