How soon should I replace my phone?

There is this decision I find a bit difficult to make. Replacing my gadgets that are still working. I have the tendency of using gadgets until they total fail functioning or they are damaged beyond repair, or maybe get lost. My current phone is over 5 years now and it is still functioning well. I have always been brushing off any thought of replacing it. I bought it at Kenya Shillings 25,000 (USD 194) and I have realized current market price for its replacement is almost half the price I bought it. Who else finds it difficult to replace a functioning gadget? I would love to know!

Getting exchange value for a gadget bought five years ago is really tough. With the amount of upgrades and products being released every year, every gadget gets outdated in 2 years. for me, I generally replace a gagdet when it is totally not worth fixing the phone or the functionalities are terrible. But with the high end smartphones becoming highly expensive, I long for a bigger lifespan for most gadgets I buy.

Mostly we don't replace gadgets unless they wear out.
