Futuristic Thoughts

I hear my grandson in his room 'playing' his video games with friends. I think it is more than just playing a game. He plays a lot of Minecraft which is building a world and fighting against zombies and other monsters. He and some online friends also play one where you are building the inside of your spaceship and, fighting against aggressive forces. To me, these games are a lot more than just playing a game. There is engineering, strategy, quick thinking, basic building, maybe some A.I., and several other things. It also takes a lot of preparation and strategy. Now, if there is ever an apocalypse in the future who else would we need/want to help in re-building our community/world? Someone who knows engineering, basic building skills, etc. So in playing these games, they are learning skills that could help us in the future. What are your thoughts on this subject?

Absolutely! It's amazing how much can be learned through gaming these days. It sounds like your grandson is gaining some impressive skills while having fun.

It's just my opinion; but it's much more complicated to actually learn how to build and engineer. Have a good day.
