Parcel was "lost in transit".

A discussion I just responded to reminded me of this... A couple of months ago, my old cellphones were having issues. So I thought, maybe it's time to buy a new one. I picked out the phone. I'm buying only from the official stores of the mobile phone company. And the online shopping platform had promos ongoing that will give a pretty good discount on the price. I placed the order, prepared the payment (it was cash on delivery), and waited excitedly for the phone... ... ... But it was taking a bit longer than other times I've bought stuff online... I wonder what's going on? Days pass, I'm getting notifications from the platform saying my package is delayed but they are expediting it blah, blah, blah... Until one day, the notification said: they are very sorry, but they have cancelled my order because my package was lost in transit. They also said I can order again if I want! Yeah, I didn't. Because in the meantime while waiting, I tried to have my old phone repaired, (even though I was told in the past that it can no longer be repaired because old model... parts not available... etc...), and this time they were able to repair it! So now, I can turn it on again and use it. As for my lost in transit phone, well... maybe it's not meant to be at this time... I do wonder though, since this was the first time it happened that something I ordered got lost... and it just so happened to be a phone (not a very expensive one, but still an original from the official store, a 5g phone that's affordable but has good reviews as far as I can tell...) I can't help but wonder if my parcel got lost into someone's pocket and taken home... or perhaps resold elsewhere... You know what I mean?

Anything is possible. Amazon thinks they lost a package of mine. Funny enough, I got it but it wasn't scanned properally or something so it never registered as delivered. Sorry about the phone. Glad you got the old one working.

Oh. Well, I hope the seller got the payment though. I wonder what happens on their end.

@moirai Yeah, they got paid. Amazon charges the card on file prior to shipping.

If it is insured, the courier who delivers the package will be responsible for the loss. And it's already in the agreement.

I guess that helps the seller at least. But my order still didn't arrive so... didn't help me.

It could be the case, people have a way with stuff to figure out what it is if they did not package it right or if even mail people took it. I wonder how many mail people know what is in a package because they seen it so many like it. I know most would not risk their jobs but there is more kind of dumb people than you think. Especially when you add in the disgruntled ones.

I do believe that in the case of the platform I order from, it is indicated on the waybill what the contents of the package is.

Ahaha! Well, I guess the waiting can be "fun" if the order actually arrives. But if you just end up waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting... ... ... for nothing. Then that's not fun at all!

Someone could have taken it instead of mailing it to you. It does make you wonder.

Yeah. My feeling really is that someone, somewhere along that chain that a parcel goes through, took it for whatever reason. Maybe for themselves, or perhaps to sell elsewhere and make money off it. Surely (hopefully), the store has insurance on the package so it wouldn't be a total loss to them. (I think this way because I also sometimes sell stuff online and would hope to still receive some payment if the platform "loses" my stuff... .)

For what you are saying, I think your parcel was lost in "someone's pocket and taken home". Shame!
