These are the top 12 in the United States mostly because of the economy, which is not great anywhere in the world now, since the Pandemic. Taxes and COL (Cost Of Living) are highest in New York state and in Illinois. Especially in the city of Chicago in the state of Illinois. However I suppose these states have some points for them is some areas because New York state is number 7 on the list and Illinois is number 6. People are moving mostly to the southern states in the United States such as Florida or Texas, but not Louisiana. Louisiana is number 9 on the list of people mostly moving from in the United States. People and families are moving from the state of Louisiana because of the often tornadoes that destroy homes and businesses as well as kill and hurt people. A lot of people that could not replace their homes after they were destructed and had to move to other states with family or friends. Businesses moved to other states to rebuild, therefore jobs were lost as well. The west coast state of California came in in the number 5 of the spot on the list basically because a lot of businesses have moved to other states therefore jobs are lost and people cannot afford the high COL there. Next up is number 4 the state of West Virginia. Personally I live in the northern part of Virginia and I have family and friends both that have moved from other states to West Virginia. The housing is cheaper in West Virginia, however there are not many jobs and this makes the state the 4th worst economic state in the country! However depending on what part of the state you live in you can get a job in another state or you can work remotely or be self employed. But there are people that either live in the center of the state, unable to travel daily to work in other states or work remotely. However the other states are number 12, Mississippi, 11 Connecticut, 10 New Jersey, 8 Pennsylvania,3 Hawaii, 2 Oregon and the state with the most amount of people and families moving out is from the smallest state Rhode Island. This is information I came across and thought that I would share.

We would love to move to the Keys; but the housing has become too expensive. Have a good day.

I have never been there, seen pictures and it's beautiful. But I was made aware that's where most of the hurricanes hit!

I know a lot of people moving from California. The cost of living, taxes, and liberal politics have gotten to them. A few moved to Texas, and one moved to North Carolina.

My granddaughter and her grandfather moved to California, where he is from and moved in with his mother. His sister lives out there too but in a different home.I live in northern Virginia and I have relatives in southern Maryland that had lived there all their lives. And some moved to Texas (young and middle aged adults mostly.) And my cousin and his wife retired to central Florida, their granddaughter and her husband moved there too. There are other's that have moved to West Virginia, North and south Carolina too.

I moved to a cheaper state. The cost of living is a lot cheaper than it was in Colorado.

These types of statistics are very interesting. Over here, quite a few are moving out of cities into less populated areas.

Here for years now a lot of people move out of the cities and even the suburb areas to the country area's. But have to transport to work every day back to the more populated area's. These days more people are working remotely, which is great! But especially with the price of gas these days it costs more to drive back and forth.

@dfollin Yes, that's true too. Some are finding work in the smaller towns which benefits everyone.

The negative side of living in Louisiana is the tornadoes and hurricanes that did destroy south Louisiana.

I have never been to Louisiana. I have a friend that moved down there and loved it. However he had to move back to Virginia because of health issues of an elderly person in his family.
