That's one of my biggest fears, falling off something high.

That is a big fall. I hope he will recover and not be paralyzed. We camped in that area one time.

@kobesbuddy Well, that depends if he fell by accident or if he jumped on purpose, I hope he is happy to be alive, or if not I hope he gets the help he needs, I have always thought it not a good idea to go hiking alone.

@Deepizzaguy If they were wet, it would be understandable he had an accident.

I think it was an accident since the roads may have been wet when the man fell down the embankment.

Poor fellow. Hope he recovers from his injuries, and I hope it wasn't an attempt to kill himself.

That is a good question how the man fell down 50 feet down a steep embankment.

It was good that they could use a Stokes basket to lift him out from there, as to get him back up the cliff in other ways, might have just more added to his injuries. The Stokes basket has been very useful for such rescues, since it was first thought of, in 1904, by Charles Francis Stokes (1863-1931), a US Navy doctor.

I did not know that the Stokes was named after Charles Francis Stokes.
