Temporary Work

I used to work temporary office positions for a while. I signed up with five agencies. I was sent to one office for about a week (5 days). The second day that I was there I started having a migraine headache for the first time and I had a hard time keeping my eyes open.
The office manager had an office of her own with a private bathroom. The rest of the employees were all in a open room with many desks. The bathrooms for the employees, clients and guests were across from the elevators in the hallway.
The office manager immediatly took me in the fancy bathroom that had a chaise lounge in it where she had me lay down. She said that migraines are usually caused or irritated by fluoresant lights, so she turned them off and turned on the small light that was on the counter. She then reached in the drawer and pulled out a clean wash rag and soaked it in cold water. She rang it out placed it over my eyes and told me to rest and she would come back to get me in about 20 or 30 minutes. When she returned for me I seen that she had put a "DO NOT ENTER" sign to give me privacy
, she had instructed everyone to use her private bathroom during that time. She instructed everyone not to use the ceiling lights and to use the lamps on their desk all week.
That was so nice, especially for just a temporary employee.
Another temporary job I was sent to was for 6 weeks at a family owned business that ran out of an office. I was included in the holiday dinner and parties. I was given Christmas cards and presents like everyone else was and was included in the drawings for the gift exchange. I was able to bring my sick 2 year old there to sit/lay on the couch and watch TV till it was time for his doctor appointment. Everyone kept an eye on him!
They were great!
Then it started to where I wouldn't have work for 3 or 4 days then all of the sudden all the agencies called me on the same day! Of course what would happen is the first one that called and I accepted paid the less.
Have you ever worked a temporary job or worked for an agency?

Yes. I took a job that I thought was temporary but they liked me so much they let another girl go and hired me permanently. I stayed there for 10 years until I was eligible for a pension. Have a good weekend.

I haven't taken temp jobs, but I can sure relate to the migraines. I am not on medication that I have to take twice a day to prevent them. I had one about 6 weeks ago caused by a medication caused by a prescribed medication for my stomach problems. I had forgotten how awful they were, and was so grateful when it finally went away. I stopped the new medication and will give it to my primary care doctor to add it to my computer record stating that I am highly allergic to the medication.
I would have loved the 6 week job. Of course my neighbor has told me many times that I'm too giving...and too sweet. But that is the way I came out.

I have never worked on a temporary job. And I have never heard of a job where you are treated as well as they treated you. You were lucky.
