The 2024 Opening Ceremonies for the Paris Olympics will be broadcast in the US starting at 7:30 PM ET July 26 on NBC. The world registered the hottest day on record on July 21. Global average surface air temperatures were recorded at 62.76 degrees. A solar storm may cause northern lights to be visible from New York to Idaho and parts of Canada starting early on July 24. A hydrothermal explosion in Yellowstone National Park damaged the boardwalk and closed the Biscuit Basin area. Things like this always make me nervous, knowing what could happen if Yellowstone ever blows! The West Nile virus has been detected in New Jersey, Texas and New York. Mosquitoes infected with the virus have been found in traps. The following states have at least one human case of the virus: Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, South Dakota, North Dakota, Tennessee, North Carolina and Maryland. There is no vaccine available for the West Nile virus. Oh no! The Wienermobile crashed and flipped over on a Chicago highway. No injuries were reported. Photo Credit: Pixabay
