For most of us , handwritten letter occupy a special place in our hearts. We learnt the art of writing such letters from our parents and we started writing letters. We felt more connected with words and we see more personal value in those letters. In fact, we hold sentimental value for these letters that we still would have kept them in our safes. The last time I wrote a letter was when I wrote a letter to my father who was then stationed abroad. The last time I received a handwritten letter was again from my father when I was graduating. I still have the letter with me and well I understand the value of those handwritten letters now. Even printed letters can bring in such feelings . So when was the last time you wrote or received a handwritten letter?

I know it sounds exaggerated but probably 30-35 years ago. Yes, that's ages ago!

@RevivedWarrior I don't have anyone to write a letter to anymore and those who used to write me back then had stopped sending. They'd rather call overseas or long distance than send postcards or letters. Then came the internet, the more the snail mail was lost.

I used to write and receive handwritten letters from my family members when I was staying out of my home town, between 2000 and 2004. After that I do not think this trend went on, since emailing replaced it. Plus I was back to my home town so there was no need to write and receive handwritten letters from parents. It was a good trend in many ways. Sometimes I get hold of my letters from archives and it ignites some nice memories.

You are right in pointing out the period mid 2000s .With smartphones ,cheaper calling options, internet and later WhatsApp there is no need to write a handwirtten letter. Communication has become way easier and faster. Thanks for sharing!

It has been a long time since I received a letter on a piece of paper. As far as I can remember, I had the last letter at my university before.

The last time I wrote a handwritten letter was to my ex boyfriend when we were apart. The last one I received was from my friend abroad. Both of these letters mean so much to me, and I cherish them dearly. It's amazing how something as simple as a handwritten letter can create such lasting memories.
