Well sort of. I already got myself into the grading program and was able to see what classes I was assigned. (no forensic science! woohoo!) I couldn't tell what class periods I would be teaching though.
Well today I received the dreaded welcome back letter which has the classes, class periods, and classrooms. I am teaching CP bio period 2 and General Studies (not college bound) 3 and then CP 6, 7, and 8. 3 classes in a row is rough and I'm sure it is even more challenging at the end of the day. All of them are in the same room I've been in for the past few years.
So I have off periods 1, 4, and 5. Either 4 or 5 will be my lunch (please be 5) and then the other 4/5 and period 1 will be my prep and duty. It is unclear what any of them specifically are at this point. They like to spring that on us on the first PD day so it is too late to complain and ask for changes by that point.
I could go for a nice 1st period hall duty. That is a nice quiet way to start the day. Back to back prep and lunch is a bit rough though. It is 80 minutes with nothing in particular to do and it is easy to lose your momentum during that time. 1st period prep we be great too. I could do any last minute photocopying without having to rush into work at 6:30am.
The only thing that would really upset me with the final schedule would be if I saw cafeteria duty on it again. I already had it last year and you aren't supposed to get it 2 years in a row. That being said my work BFF has had it for the past 3 years so anything is possible. Stay tuned!

Hall duty would lighten your pressure load, first thing in the morning. The children aren't all wound up at that time of day:)

What is the first day of school for your students? It is hard to believe but this Friday August 2 is when the students start school here in my town.

I hope it all works out for you. Have a great day. School starts August 19 here I think.
