I Had No Idea

One of the women I just posted about, concerning online work, is on vacation. She does in home care work, and one of her clients and I used to work together. So I asked how she is doing, she informed me she's in the hospital, I asked why, and she said dehydration, and I thought about me having those cramps, never thought about a person being hospitalized for not drinking enough water, and that really made me think. I'm drinking lots of water, and going to get Pedialyte soon.

It can happen. A lot of people don't drink nearly enough. Drinking water in particular can make you feel bloated. It can be hard to drink it. Plus people can't agree on how much is enough or too much.

@popciclecold And, that's good. As long as you feel good, that's what's important.

It's very important to keep hydrated! My mother in law was hospitalized early January . . . apparently she had a UTI and was extremely dehydrated. She was not herself - she wasn't making sense and was being quite combative . . . we were told that this was common among older adults when they get very dehydrated. If you are comfortable in AC temps, your body might "forget" and not let you know you're actually thirsty . . so be sure to drink!

Wow, what a surprise. I'm under the a/c never knew it could have that effect. Learn something everyday.

@much2say So I found out. I am really drinking water. Don't need leg and foot cramps and no trip to the hospital.

@popciclecold If we're too warm, we just naturally feel we need to drink. But if you're feeling cool, then we don't necessarily "feel" thirsty.

I think it is easier to get dehydrated than people think. It is common in the elderly.

I have to drink water a lot when it is very hot outside as well as inside despite an electric fan running inside the room.

I never drink enough water; and I think my kidneys are suffering as a result. It's good that you're drinking a lot of water. Have a good day.

I hope your cramps go away soon. I'm not a good role model when it comes to drinking water.
