We got up and got busy outside early today to take advantage of the cooler temperatures. We have a high today of 96, and with the heat index that will make it feel like it is around 116 degrees here. With a heat advisory in effect, that pretty much took working in the garden off the list for any other time of the day. My hubby was convinced (Oh...hummm) to assist with garden chores today for a few minutes and he helped me for a good 30 minutes. I got some cherry tomatoes picked, did some more weeding--I had already done weeding after I fed the chickens earlier. We sprinkled Sevin on bell peppers and tomatoes and I planted some pumpkin seeds. I am hoping that the pumpkins do well. I usually buy several for the chickens in the Fall. They are supposed to be a natural aid to ward off parasites and worms. So, I'll take that treatment in exchange for medicine any day. Plus, we will get pumpkin pies out of the deal too! I'm about to get a shower and head to the flea market to tidy up for weekend sales. The first weekend of the month is always a big selling event.
