They appeared in Mexico and South-Central American about 10,000 years ago. They came to the US in 1833 and were most popular in Hawaii, Florida and California. They are considered berries since they have seeds, also known as butter fruit and alligator pears.
They consist of 70-79% water and their production is highly water-intensive. 70 liters roughly per fruit. That is 12 times as much as it takes to grow a tomato.
A dip dish made from the avocado is Guacamole which is made from mashed avocados, tomatoes, chiles, onions, lime, and cilantro. The Aztecs first made guacamole and called it "ahuacamolli" by merging a combination of their languages' words for avocado(ahucatl) and sauce(molli). Several desserts can be made with this fruit.
Do you enjoy avocadoes? I sure do. We use them as a side or topping for quesadillas, tacos, etc. They are very good for us. They are chuck full of fiber as well as having vitamins E and C in them. But they are high in calories, fat, and carbs.

They provide healthy fats and may help improve gut health, heart health, and weight loss. I grew a lovely avocado tree when I lived in Vancouver but didn't bring it with me when I moved to Ontario.

I've only had avocado twice in my life. Thank you for the info. Have a good weekend.
