Need to cover our windows and balcony door

Our living room windows and dining room balcony door had vertical blinds that started somewhere above the windows/door and went all the way to the floor. Now that we renovated these rooms we had to throw the blinds out. They were from the 90s and had to go. Not necessarily because they were from the 90s but because they weren't in the best condition after all this time. For a while now our windows and balcony door have been bare. We really need to take care of that. I've been going back and forth between curtains and blinds. I like the idea of curtains because they make the room look nicer, however, there are disadvantages. With sheer curtains people can still see inside the house. So if you are walking around naked, for example, you are exposed. With blackout curtains your room is dark if you have them closed, so you have to constantly move them back and forth, which I don't want to do. With vertical blinds you control how much light goes into the room and how exposed you want the windows/doors to be. Once you set them a certain way (to your liking) you don't need to adjust them again, which is great. Perhaps that is the way to go. Now the dilemma becomes this: what type of blinds to get, what material and color to choose, and where to get them. Any suggestions or recommendations?

We still have our old blinds from the house with the exception of the bedroom. The windo on my side of the bed needed replaced. So we found cordless blinds from home depot.

Cordless blinds are a good idea. Not sure if those exist for blinds that go all the way to the ceiling and are vertical.

@kaylachan I wonder how you’d move vertical blinds if no chord.

There are SO many options. I would just peruse a store that specializes in blinds or the department of a store....or online. Good luck and have a great day.
