Day 203 – Way Maker Joshua 3:1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and they set out from Acacia Grove and came to the Jordan, he and the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over. 2 After three days the officers went through the camp; 3 and commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH your Elohiym, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you will set out from your place and go after it. 4 Yet there will be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, so that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.” 5 Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow JEHOVAH will do wonders among you.” 6 Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the people.” So, they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people. 7 JEHOVAH said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. 8 You will command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the water of the Jordan, you will stand in the Jordan.’” 9 Joshua said to the children of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of JEHOVAH your Elohiym.” 10 Joshua said, “By this you will know that the living Elohiym is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites. 11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH of the entire earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan. 12 Now, therefore, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from every tribe. 13 It will happen, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of JEHOVAH, Adown of the entire earth, will rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they will stand as a heap.” 14 When the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows its banks during the whole time of harvest), 16 that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. The waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan; and Israel crossed over on dry ground, until the people had crossed over the Jordan. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Supreme God Adown of the entire earth – Sovereign Lord of the entire earth Yeshuwa – Jesus Iesous – Jesus Christos – Anointed One, Messiah God’s character: Sovereign Ruler Preparation is key to everything you do. You always need a plan of action in every undertaking. JEHOVAH told Joshua the order in which the children of Israel would cross the Jordan to take the Promised Land. He directed Joshua to tell the priests they would go first, and then the rest of the tribes in the order they set out on their journey through the wilderness. JEHOVAH told him that as soon as the priests touched the water, the water would stand as far away as Adam down to the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea so they could cross over on dry ground. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, He became your Adown, your Sovereign Lord. You agreed to let Him rule your life and direct you in everything you do. Many times, you want to go ahead of His leadership, and set out on your own. When you do, you run into trouble. When you allow Him to direct your life, He removes the obstacles that stood in your way so you can complete the task He gave you. The saying: Let go and let God is what you need to do when He gives you instructions and promises to be with you until you complete the task, He gave you. How long will He be with you, leading the way? Philippians 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Iesous Christos; 7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you are partakers with me of grace. He will be with you until you see Yeshuwa face to face. He will never leave you nor forsake you. As JEHOVAH told Joshua when He ordained him in the place of Moses, so He tells you. Joshua 1:5 “No man can stand before you for your entire life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” You do not need to worry that Elohiym will leave you when you finish your task because your task isn’t finished until He calls you home. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for leading me and directing me in every task You give me. Help me not to go ahead of You but allow You to lead the way, getting rid of every obstacle in my path so I can complete the work You give me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. God certainly leads each one of us in our lives, and when we are active, and young, we notice this more, I think; now that I am retired, I scratch my head sometimes, wondering what God wants of me now, in my old age. I need to be more patient, I guess, as God has not forsaken me.
