Day 205 – Submission Joshua 5:1 It happened, when the kings of the Amorites on the west side of the Jordan, and the kings of the Canaanites by the sea, heard that JEHOVAH had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and they no longer had spirit in them because of the children of Israel. 2 At that time JEHOVAH said to Joshua, “Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time.” 3 Joshua made flint knives for himself and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. 4 This is the reason Joshua circumcised them: The males who came out of Egypt, the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt. 5 For the people who came out had been circumcised, but the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised. 6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of JEHOVAH—to whom JEHOVAH swore He would not show them the land which JEHOVAH had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, “a land flowing with milk and honey.” 7 Then Joshua circumcised their sons whom He raised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way. 8 It happened, when they had finished circumcising the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed. 9 Then JEHOVAH said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore, the name of the place is Gilgal to this day. 10 Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho. 11 They ate the produce of the land on the day after Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the same day. 12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year. 13 It happened, when Joshua was near Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” 14 He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of JEHOVAH I have now come.” Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Adown say to His servant?” 15 Then the Commander of JEHOVAH’S army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” Joshua did so. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Adown – Sovereign Lord Commander of JEHOVAH’S army – Lord Jesus Yeshuwa – Jesus Christos – Anointed one, Messiah Theos – Supreme Divinity Kurios – Supreme Authority Pneuma – Breath, Spirit God’s character: Commander Whenever you start something new, you need to prepare your supplies, tools, and yourself for the task ahead. As soon as Israel crossed into the Promised Land two things happened. The hearts of the kings melted because they recognized JEHOVAH was with them, and JEHOVAH told Joshua to circumcise the children of Israel again because they had not done so while they were in the wilderness. The children of Israel also celebrated the Passover and ate the parched grain of the land. The day after they arrived in the Promised Land, they no longer ate manna. With the preparations completed, the Commander of JEHOVAH’S army met with Joshua, and he worshiped him when He told him who He was. He came to him only after the reproach of Egypt was off them. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, He rolled away the reproach Satan had on you. Satan no longer had a hold on you. With the reproach rolled away from the children of Israel, Egypt no longer held them in its grip. They belonged to JEHOVAH, as you belonged to Him when you committed your life to Him. As the hearts of the kings melted because they recognized JEHOVAH was with them. Satan also recognizes Yeshuwa’s hold on your life and flees from the blood covering your life. It doesn’t mean he won’t return to tempt you back to your old way of life, he will and does. You need to stand strong in your commitment to Yeshuwa and JEHOVAH so he will have no stronghold on your life. 2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in Theos for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Theos, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christos, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. James 4:7 Therefore submit to Theos. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Satan can do nothing to you when you stand firm in your commitment to Yeshuwa Christos. As the Commander of JEHOVAH’S army was with Israel and went before them into the Promised Land, He will go before you too, when you trust Him to lead you. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in JEHOVAH with your whole heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in everything acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. You have nothing to fear from Satan when Yeshuwa’s blood covers you. He has everything to fear from you when you stand firm in your commitment to Yeshuwa. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in Kurios and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of Theos, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of Theos, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above everything, taking the shield of faith with which you can quench every fiery dart of the wicked one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Pneuma, which is the word of Theos; 18 praying always with prayer and supplication in the Pneuma, being watchful to this end with perseverance and supplication for the saints. 1 John 4:4 You are of Theos, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. You have nothing to fear from Satan, but he has everything to fear from you. Let’s pray: Father, thank you that You live in me and go ahead of me in everything I do. Help me not to fear Satan when he comes against me. Help me keep God’s whole armor on all the time so Satan cannot harm me but must flee from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Yes, it is good when we recognise God going ahead of us in our lives, but it is not always so easy to do, when we are pained, and in trouble from our various life issues.
