Day 206 – Faith Joshua 6:1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in. 2 JEHOVAH said to Joshua, “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. 3 You will march around the city, every man of war; you will go around the city once. This you will do for six days. 4 Seven priests will bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. However, on the seventh day you will march around the city seven times, and the priests will blow the trumpets. 5 It will happen when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the trumpet, the people will shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall flat. The people will go up every man straight before him.” 6 Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of JEHOVAH.” 7 Furthermore, he said to the people, “Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of JEHOVAH.” 8 It happened, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before JEHOVAH advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH followed them. 9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. 10 Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You will not shout or make noise with your voice, nor will a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, “Shout!” Then you will shout.” 11 He had the ark of JEHOVAH circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp. 12 Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of JEHOVAH. 13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of JEHOVAH went on continually and blew with the trumpets. The armed men went before them. However, the rear guard came after the ark of JEHOVAH, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. 14 On the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So, they did for six days. 15 However, it happened on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawn of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. 16 On the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for JEHOVAH has given you the city! 17 Now the city will be doomed by JEHOVAH to destruction, it and everyone in it. Only Rahab the harlot will live, she and everyone with her in the house, because she hid the messengers we sent. 18 You, abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. 19 However, the silver and gold, vessels of bronze and iron, you will consecrate to JEHOVAH; they will come into the treasury of JEHOVAH.” 20 Therefore, the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. It happened when the people heard the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, the wall fell flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 21 They destroyed everything in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword. 22 However, Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country, “Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and everything she has, as you swore to her.” 23 The young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and everyone she had. They brought out her relatives and left them outside the camp of Israel. 24 However, they burned the city and everything in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of JEHOVAH. 25 Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and everything she had. She dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. 26 Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying, “Cursed be the man before JEHOVAH who rises and builds this city Jericho; he will lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he will set up its gates.” 27 JEHOVAH was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the country. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus Elohiym – Supreme God El – Mighty God Theos – Supreme Divinity God’s character: Judge Destroyer God of the impossible Do the instructions you receive seem odd and impossible to you? Do you wonder how it will turn out, yet your instructor ensured success? Then do you stand amazed when it works out exactly as planned? JEHOVAH instructed Joshuwa to tell the people they were to march around the city of Jericho with the only sound the rams’ horns the priests blew. They were to do this once a day for six days and on the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times, only the seventh time they were to shout because JEHOVAH gave them the city. When they followed JEHOVAH’S instructions, the walls of the city fell flat. Furthermore, Joshua told the people they were to kill everything, man and beast, but leave the spoil for JEHOVAH. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you agreed to follow His instructions, even when they seem impossible. If you have been a Christian for a long time, you know Elohiym is the El of the impossible. When He gives you an instruction, He will bring it to fruition. Luke 18:27 But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with Theos.” What has Yeshuwa told you to do that you are hesitant about? Remember, if He told you to do it, He would make it happen and you will see the fruit of your trust and obedience to Him. Let’s pray: Father, help me to trust You and not doubt when You tell me to do something that seems impossible to me. Take away every doubt and fear and help me complete the task You set for me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 11 August 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

I just covered this scripture yesterday! They marched around Jericho seven times on the seventh days, then were instructed to shout! The walls of Jericho came down:) What an amazing demonstration of God's power to handle things, for his people:) With God, all things are possible Trust and obey the Lord, for there's no other way. Rahab the harlet hid the two spies, thus she benefited by obeying the Lord. She, her family and all that belonged to her was spared when the city was destoyed.

I learnt a song about this event when I was a boy. It is an amazing happening, and demonstrates the power of God. And yet, in this day and age, they might have been charged with war crimes, to kill men and women, young, and old like that. God acts according to his plans, not to anything else, I guess.

I know the song too. I'm sure you're right about being charged with war crimes, but when God is in the plan, nothing can come against Him. Have a blessed day.
