A resident living in Kelowna British Columbia saw a cat that had climbed a utility pole 30 feet off of the ground last Tuesday that needed to be rescued.
A rescue team found out that the utility pole is owned by FortisBC who contacted the power company who sent employees to the area where the cat was stranded for a period of more than 24 hours.
The employees of FortisBC had help from a bucket truck owned by telecommunications firm Telus who used a bucket to get the cat off of the utility pole safely.
The catch was that the cat jumped off of the bucket that the employee had with him 10 feet off of the ground and the cat landed on its feet and walked away safely.

I am in agreement with you about the behavior of cats.

Thirty feet was too high up to jump from, but to jump from 10 foot was still risky and it was lucky the cat landed ok, perhaps it was frantic to get down as soon as possible having been stranded up there for so long

Most likely the kitten was frantic being up 30 feet off the ground for over 24 hours.
