Male Songwriters and Artists seem to always have the opposite sex on their minds when they are looking for inspiration for a great song. Many tunes delve into different aspects of a relationship whether it's romance, cheating, heartbreak or some other emotion and feeling.
So, here's a series of some of my favorite feminine titled songs...
Your comments and musings on these picks, and your own favorite "feminine titled" favorites or music trivia always welcome...
***WOMAN, WOMAN- GARY PUCKETT & THE UNION GAP (1968)
-That must be some woman, it's repeated twice in the title. Unfortunately for the guy, she's got cheating on her mind!
This power ballad of a song was a million seller for Gary Puckett & the Union Gap.
TRIVIA CHALLENGE
***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess the artists, songs or facts. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues!
1. Gary Puckett had another "female inspired" hit this one using "GIRL" in the title. The song was a warning to performers on the road who might be tempted by the charms of an "underage girl" who appears much older.
-Do you recall the song I'm talking about?
2. This "iconic English artist" was part of a "long haired 60's band" who revolutionized the world both musically and culturally. This musician along with the "other three blokes" in the band started what became known in the media as the "British Invasion." When the band broke up in 1970, this artist recorded the song "Imagine," the best selling single of his solo career. In 1980, this musician released the LP "Double Fantasy," which included the track "Woman," an ode to his "wife Yoko Ono" and to all women.
-Can you name this artist?
3. Brian Hyland was an American pop singer who was very successful in the early 60's pre-Beatles. His recording of the song "Sealed With a Kiss" was a #3 Hot 100 charter. After his teen idol image faded, he later found final chart success re-recording a song by The Impressions in 1970, about a man who falls in love with a "woman who traveled in a caravan." It is the name for a lady who leads a nomadic life, some working as fortune tellers."
-Do you know the name of Hyland's woman-titled song?
*** Bonus: Hyland's biggest hit was a 1960 "novelty song about a "girl wearing a bikini with polka dots."
-Can you name the full title of that Hyland bikini song and the "color" of the swimsuit that bashful girl was wearing?
Ok, let's "not get over emotional when solving these song and artists answers. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as Stevie Wonder would say, "Don't You Worry About a Thing."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition in the near future. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned...

1. Old hag, get out of my buffet line. Oh, wait, that’s how he sings it now. Back then it was “Young Girl.”
2. Johnny Ono Winston O’Boogie Lennon? Never heard of him.
3. Stevie Nicks liked “Gypsy Woman” so much she borrowed half of the song’s name!
BONUS: minute, small, mustard-colored speckled two-piece bathing suit? Dang, he’d still be saying that mouthful if he hadn’t gone with “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.”
