Yam curry with potatoes is very delicious

Yesterday I had yam curry with potatoes. Yam is called ol in bengali. It is a vegetable growing underneath the soil in the roots. One has to boil very well the food. It is eaten in bengal with chapatis. It can eaten in boiled form with rice also.

We have something called 'sweet potatoes' but they are also known as yams. I'm not sure they are the same as your yams. I really like them baked.

We also have sweet potatoes here. But not sure if it is the same as your yam. We usually baked them or have them for Chinese sweet soup.
