Yesterday was a trying day. Was there at the hospital at the Cath Lab from 12:25 until 7:45pm. Only about an Hour or less was spent getting the procedure. The rest was filling out paper work on a tablet, and then the nurse asking the same dang questions. Then it took 3 people to find a vein. I KNOW my veins are small and they roll. But do not have a problem at the other hospital. THIS hospital I have ALWAYS had a problem getting an IV. They had to bring in a Machine to find a vein the last time I was there years ago. In the ER they are good...but other areas..NOT good. Anyway, they put the IV in my right hand. THAT is Wrist where the doctor would be doing the Cath! They assured me it wouldn't be in the way...LOL My nurse in Prep was really nice and did a good job except with the vein. But the Lady who came and took me to the Lab was awesome! She was dressed in Bright Yellow flowered scrubs. She was so pleasant even though she was in charge, she corrected things in an upbeat voice. She knew her job well, and sure made me more at ease. She explained everything, and asked if I needed to go to the restroom. Then stopped my gurney at the bathroom door. She was Not happy about the IV, but her and another nurse made sure it was out of the way. The doctor was not happy either. The Lab...I had a Cath done at a lab at Gulf Coast a few years ago. The room was really large..lots of room to move around. The area I laid on was nice and comfy. But I felt alone and not sure of what I was seeing..Drugs will do that. LOL BUT.. The Lab I went to yesterday...looked about as big as my bedroom (small). All crowded up..Machines, monitors etc. A hard table so slim, I wasn't sure I would fit on it. LOL BUT...Everyone there knew their job, DID their job, no one reaching over anyone..Efficient...In my mind...I remembered M.A.S.H. and how everyone worked together and got things done. And my Yellow Nurse was telling people things to do, and still in that pleasant voice..not yelling or snapping at anyone. Finally saw my doctor come in...and then NOTHING...can not tell you anything that happened until they were telling me to get over on my gurney. Even though it was such a small space, and not grand like the other place...I felt safer and more at ease at This Lab. Can't say I enjoyed the prep area or the waiting to leave area, but the lab itself was impressive. Loved my prep nurse, but the waiting time was ridiculous.

I'm glad you had some good people helping you with your procedure. Sorry it took so long. I learned a long time ago when it comes to hospital expect it to be a long day/night. I have never known anything else when having to be there with a loved one.

It makes such a difference if health professionals are kind and considerate, as well as efficient.
