At what point in your life did you feel the happiest?

I am pondering this question at this very moment. The only thing that flashed in my mind was being with my biological parents and siblings with their families during the previous Christmas seasons. Now it is not the same thing anymore. First, my parents are in heaven now. Second, my younger sister is living in another city with her family. Last, I am not sure if we are going to be together again with the rest of our relatives on both sides of my parents. Image Credit: miro.medium.com

I guess we have different struggles and we have different problems and causes of our loneliness. But always remeber you still have "you" and you still have God, and happiness is always a decision. I feel bad on what's going in my life right now, its a bit scary and I am unmotivated always, but I am still hanging on, because I know I have to be grateful in everything that was left in me and because God is still giving me a reason to live.

I do agree with you that our God will always there for us. In fact, I considered Him my best friend in life. Then, my mother is next to Him. Since my mother passed away, I do not have anyone to talk with about my personal sentiments. Regardless, I am still grateful to have her as my personal angel and the same goes with my deceased father.

I am so sorry about your parents. when family is all together those are happy moments for sure. I had many happy moments in my life, my marriage, when my kids were born, the family celebrations ...

I can also have random happy thoughts, but I tend to remember my biological parents. I had shared them as always before.

@Shavkat The memories with our parents are usually happy thoughts.

I hope your sister doesn't live far away from you and it will be easy for both of you to see each other. I miss the time when my child was little. At that time we often went out to have outdoor activities in the weekends and we also travelled abroad during the vacations. I think at that time people seemed to be peaceful and friendly. Now the world seems to be crazy.

Not so easy to respond. During childhood, I would say, Christmases with my parents. Later on many years down the line when my mom and I moved to Latvia and I met my soul mate and most of the 20 years I was with him,

I was most happy, when I was running my own second-hand bookshop. I liked the books, the interaction with customers, and the fact that I was my own boss. It is a shame that most second-hand bookshops were forced to close, due to large overhead costs, and have all mostly moved on-line now.

The second-hand book shops that I am visiting in my city were closed, too. I felt bad because I cannot buy some lately. I wish I could have my mini-library for my collected novels.

@innertalks I agree. I think it is not only this matter. The local newspaper company closed down because of the advent popularity of online news and the like.

@Shavkat It seems to be the same over most of the World too. Online sellers have caused most shop owners to close their businesses. Also, buyers are not so interested in buying books these days, preferring to read stuff online instead.

As for me, happiness is fleeting and it makes its presence often. However, the mind is fickle and finds ways to keep us on the edge. I find myself happier after my retirement as there are fewer people to kick me around and unload their rubbish on me!

It’s crazy how life changes and how we look back at those moments so fondly. It’s bittersweet, but I guess it also makes those memories feel even more special. I hope you get to reconnect with your family again soon, even if things aren’t quite the same.
