Listening

I don't recall exactly when I started to listen. For some time now, I listen and often take advice.
Recently, on this site, I was told not to respond to attacks on other social networks, which I have taken as a mantra.
I have carried it forward to emails.
I will think of a retaliation, but that is as far as it goes. I don't answer.
I am feeling very positive about this.

That is one rule I try to follow to be keep quiet and listen more often.

It took me a while to realize the difference between trolls and people who actually got something to say or something I can learn from. After all, we can always change our mind once we come across new information, so it's okay to be wrong at times. It should not be taken as a defeat, but as an enrichment.
Unfortunately there are many trolls on social networks, "those who must not be fed". 
Then there are people who just seem to not listen: even if they mean well, it's pointless to continue the conversation, we can't get along with everyone.
I also give for granted what feels like an attack might not be one due to cultural or language barriers, but either way, responding usually ends up being a waste of time and energy and should be avoided, definitely.
