Yes, it’s another headache-inducing-if-you-don’t-like-country-music flat-out COUNTRY music song to counterbalance the Spinners song I just posted. I really do listen to all of this. Plus, to scare you even more, I’ve spent a lot of time lately listening to Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. But country IS my soul. With that in mind, welcome back to the list this gentleman. Crazy Arms - Ray Price And welcome back Tommy Jackson on the fiddle. And OOOOH, those harmonies. While Ray Price had enjoyed some success earlier in the 50s, originally fronting the Drifting Cowboys after Hank Williams died, his own Cherokee Cowboys laid the blueprint for what was not only his best music but some of the greatest music of the 1950s. This was the first of eight #1 songs for Price. Oddly enough, he had four #1s in the 50s and four in the 70s, with no #1 songs in the 60s. (That was Buck Owens’ decade. ) And if you’re wondering about the name of his band, yes, he really was part Cherokee Indian. His given name was Noble Ray Price. Today, we just call him a legend. Crazy Arms Written by Ralph Mooney and Chuck Seals Recorded by Ray Price Released as a single, 1956 Peak chart position: #1 Today’s rock song: “Games People Play (They Just Can’t Stop It)” Please take the treasured dreams I have:

@LindaOHio — don’t listen to this to try to find out, you’ll be calling 911 for the headache after two notes from that fiddle.

Sometimes this is the kind of country I just find a hard time getting into, when a country singer sings like someone's got hold of his balls throughout the entire song.

Oh, like Geddy Lee or Steve Perry always sing? I understand: real country isn’t most people’s taste in country. And, honestly, it’s like a friend said about the Clash’s three-album set Sandinista!: “Could you REALLY listen to that album if it was nothing but Joe Strummer singing for six sides?” And, truthfully, that’s what rubbed me wrong about Ray Price when I was a kid. I grew to appreciate him.

@FourWalls Well, for me I guess it's the hiccups. Or whatever it is that they do. I can definitely tell the difference between a tenor and a twanger. lol
