Viewpoint - Banaue Rice Terraces. / myLot

The photo was taken 18 or 19 years ago. This is Banaue Rice Terraces located in Ifugao, Philippines—one of my favorite places. The weather and the people are nice and cool, and the views are great. Some 18 or 19 years ago, the travel time would not have been shorter than 10 hours from Manila. But when I search now, travel time is reduced to 8.5 to 9 hours. Somehow it is a great improvement because there were lots of road improvements. Banaue is 5000ft above sea level and the rice terraces are carved into the mountains by the ancestors of Igorot (what the locals there are called). It is still my dream to go back there with the kids even though I have been able to go there 5 times already. Any place you always come back to?

We saw rice terraces like this when we were in Thailand. Such a lot of work goes into making these terraces.

That looks amazing! The place I always seem to go back to is the Ozarks in Missouri, specifically Branson, Missouri. The massive mountains just draw me in, with beautiful lakes surrounding the terrain. I feel very small when I visit.
