The giant golden-crowned flying fox is the largest bat in the world. It has golden-colored hair on its head and is native to several islands in the Philippines. It is one of 65 members of the flying fox family. It has a wing span of 5 feet and long claws on five-toed feet. It weighs about 3 pounds and has a body of 11.4 to 15.75 inches long. In one night they can cover about 64 miles and eat figs. They don't have echolocation as other bats but instead, it has great eyesight and excellent smelling ability. They only mate once a year and only have one pup each time. Their predators are eagles, the reticulated python, and humans. Only about 20,000 exist and these as well as 10 other species are also on the endangered list. Was unable to upload any pictures.

Those bats are actually pretty cool. I watched a zoo program on TV; and the keepers wore special vests so that the bats could hold onto them. They were quite tame. Have a good weekend.
