Scholomance was a legendary school of black magic in Romania in the region of Transylvania. According to folklore accounts it is run by the devil. It enrolls 10 students and they remain in darkness for 7 years. They learn the language of all animals and magic spells. The students are kept underground for the entire 7 years. Many books series and games have been written and developed with this subject matter. It is mentioned in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
