What happened this morning.........

When I got up this morning and went into the living room the lights were still on, the newspaper was still in the living room, half my things were on the floor and my Mum was on the floor inbetween the coffee table and her sofa! I said, Oh, no! Mother! She told me it had started over the other side of the room. She had been feeling tired so she had sat on my seat, but then when she tried to get up she slipped onto the floor, (that was why all my things were all over the floor), and she crawled from there to where she was between the coffee table and her sofa. She asked me to hold her up so she was in a sitting position because she said she wanted to twist her feet round under the coffee table so that she had her back to the sofa so that she could get up, but I knew she wouldn't be able to. After a while of her just sitting there she said I could go and sit down and she'd wait for Syd to come downstairs to see if he could help. Syd took his sweet time coming down and when he did she couldn't understand half of what my Mum wanted him to do. She said, Can you hold me up so I'm sitting up, " like she asked me, but he just stood there like a wet week instead. He eventually put the seat cushion under her head, and he eventually got her sitting up like she asked, but she still couldn't twist round or get up. But she was insisting she didn't want any paramedics! So I messaged Dawn, one of Mum's friends from Church, on Facebook messenger. When she got the message she phoned Syd to see what the matter was, then she came round with her husband Ian! When she came round she asked my Mum a few questions about how she was feeling. Then she and Ian moved the coffee table over to the side. They had to move my bags of handmade cards out of the way first. And they knocked some of my stuff over. But my Mum was more important than that, and I picked those back up afterwards. Dawn said she wasn't going to be able to get my Mum up on her own, so she phoned Mum's other friend Frances. Dawn explained what had happened and Frances said she would come round, but Dawn said she would go and fetch her because it would be quicker. So off she went and came back with Frances. When Frances came her and Dawn cracked a few jokes to make my Mum feel more at ease. Then got her further back so that they could get hold of her better, and then they both got one of her arms and pulled her up. Syd put the cushion back on the sofa and they managed to get her sitting on the sofa. Then they asked her to count to 10 slowly to calm her down. Then they got her to stand up again so that they could get the cushion and her into a better position. Eventually she was sitting comfortably. Then they pushed the coffee table back. Syd made everybody a cup of tea, and I put everything back in it's proper place. Then I got myself a cup of matcha green tea. Frances, Dawn and Ian went in the dining room to drink their teas because there was more room to sit in there. While my tea was brewing Mum wanted to know if the visitors wanted a biscuit so I went and asked them. I asked them if they liked my library, and pointed out my books on the shelves! Frances and Ian wanted a biscuit, but Dawn didn't, so I went and got two malted milks. Frances said they were her favourite. Then I drank my tea. When they had gone I just got myself a banana and a packet of mini cheddars for my lunch because I didn't want to do any cooking after all that excitement!

Your mom has a lovely daughter and someawesome friends! They all did exactly what had to be done: hand the situation with love! I can tell myself of some stories like your mother´s, and we don´t want paramedics but love and help that can be done.

Aw, thank you very much, you are making me blush. Yes, she does have some awesome friends. They did everything that needed to be done, yes. My Mum definitely didn't want any paramedics, she did not want to be taken to hospital yet again!

@sharonelton I understand your mom perfectly well. But for that, she has to have the miracle crew.

@marguicha Yes, I can understand where she's coming from too! Yes, I'm glad we have friends that we can phone for help instead of phoning the paramedics.

It's good you were all able to get your Mum back on the sofa. I hope she'll be okay now.

Yes, Dawn and Frances did manage it, I didn't think they'd be able to. If they couldn't do it I was going to go and ask our new next door neighbours if they'd come and help. Huw and Gary are two big strong lads! My Mum is fine but she's getting slower these days and gets tired more easily.

Yes, it's great that we have friends that we can phone for help when we need it. Well, I messaged her on Facebook messenger, and then she phoned Syd for the details, and then she came round. Thank you very much. My Mum is fine, thank you. She did not injure herself.

Wow, Sharon. What a fright. I am glad she is okay and did not break anything. Please have her get checked out by a doctor. Take her to urgent care or make an appointment to see her own doctor. I'm glad that you have friends who could help.

Yes, Dawn and Frances were very good in being able to get her up. I didn't think they were going to do it and I was prepared to ask the lads next door to help!

I hope your mum wasn't hurt. When my husband fell it was only me; so I had to call the paramedics. I'm glad you had someone you could call for help. Have a good day.
